Tomorrow night is my first official candlelight flow class.  I have incorporated candles into my classes in the past (Halloween, lunar, etc.) and it always has had positive feedback.

First Blog Post Ever!

Welcome me, to the world of blogging!  I am intrigued to see the direction this blog goes.  I was born a Gemini so it has the potential to go in many different directions based off all my crazy interests (Trait of a Gemini: A wide variety of subjects excites them, and hence, the Gemini will try their hands at diverse things).

My sister, we'll call her Babs, said to me the other day in one of those phone calls when she has nothing else to do on her long commute home from grad school down route 12 ,"Ugh, Laura, would you just make up your mind on what you want to do with your life already!  You are exhausting!"

My response, "Babs, you sound like our mother."

In Babs's defense, I do bounce around a lot.  I went to college to become a teacher/concert pianist.  Then I changed my mind and decided I was going to save planet earth and enrolled in a sustainability program at University of Illinois.  Upon graduation, I decided to become Erin Brockovich and started to study for the LSAT.  Wow, was that the most boring thing I ever tried.  Props to all the lawyers out there.  Let see... then it was dietetics for a year and I really enjoyed the nutritional aspect of the program but I couldn't get the behind the idea of all calories being equal.. meaning as long as you were consuming the right amount of calories and vitamins it didn't matter so much what you ate (processed food, diet food, etc.).  I whole heartedly believe the intention behind your food and the quality of your food made all the difference... but more on that later.

During this period, I just so happened to take two courses on Yoga at the community college.  I had dabbled in yoga since high school but committing to a regular practice started to change me.  I went from being slightly cynical and anti-spiritual to not so cynical and very much more spiritual and connected to humanity.  Yoga.  Get in my life!

So this blog will be mostly about yoga and how it relates to my world.  There will probably be some fun posts about my upcoming trip to Ireland.  There may even be some DIY posts on cooking, baking, or my favorite hobby refinishing furniture.

I hope you enjoy reading this and future blog posts.  Here is a great quote to keep in mind as you comment on my blog and other human blogs as well:

“Nonviolence is not a garment to put on and off at will. Its seat is in the heart, and it must be an inseparable part of our very being.” - Mahatma Gandhi
